BIO

Deborah Medrez, also known as "Ziburta" or "Debowah" is a Mexican/American contralto singer and composer. Her versatility extends to different genres, everything from Chamber Pop, Folktronica, Indie Rock and Hebrew Chants. Composing in both English and Spanish languages she has reached niche audiences in United States and Latin America.  She began her musical career while studying English Literature in New York City, playing her folk compositions in small stages. Eventually she relocated to Mexico City where she began performing her songs in her swing-rock band "Ziburta y Los Esclavos del Ritmo". In 2018 Deborah got signed with Editor Warner Chappell Latin America. Deborah went solo in 2019 releasing her first EP "El Fin", a four track work of Orquestral Pop in Spanish produced by Rodrigo Baills, member of Caifanes.

 

This 2021, Deborah will be releasing her new LP "San Juan Chamula", a Spanish Folktronic work that fuses Traditional Latin Rhythms with Psychedelia and Electronica. She will be releasing LP "He Broke My Heart" an English Indie Folk work of melancholic and tender songs this upcoming year.

Deborah also ventures in the areas of ​​cinema, theater, painting and mysticism.
